Turners Super Car Saturday – The Low Down

This Saturday Turners Penrose branch will be displaying six very rare Super Cars between 10am and 4pm. These aren’t run of the mill Super Cars these are seriously limited edition machines. So let’s take a closer look at each of them here so you can be clued up and sound all knowledgeable on the day and impress your friends.

 

2015 McLaren P1

The star of the show, this is a modern Hyper Car with a turbocharged combustion engine and an electric engine producing 903bhp (916ps) and 978 nm of torque.

It is the successor to the legendary McLaren F1 and has the ability to transform into a track mode which reduces ride height and extends the spoilers. It can also travel 10-30Km on solely electric battery if required.

375 were built and this is the only one of its kind in New Zealand, with a market value of $2.5 to $2.8 million.

1991 Ferrari F40

A twin turbo V8, this is the first production car to be made of carbon fibre and Kevlar composite and the first to have a top speed of over 200MPH.

It was the last car built under Enzo Ferrari’s supervision and was produced to celebrate 40 years of Ferrari.

Only one of three in New Zealand with a value of $1.6 to $2 million.

Top speed is 324 km/h, acceleration 0-100 km/h 4.1 sec, 0-400m 11.9 sec, 0-1000m 20.9 sec.

 

 2003 Ferrari Enzo

Naturally aspirated 6 litre V12 with a full carbon fibre monocoque.  Speedo can register a top speed of 400 KPH.

Only 400 were built and this is one of only two of its kind in New Zealand, with a value of $2 to $2.5 million.

 

1995 Ferrari F50

The successor to the F40, this has a naturally aspirated 5 litre V12 engine and a full carbon fibre monocoque.

Only 375 were ever built and this is the only one of its kind in New Zealand.  There were 31 which were painted yellow and this is one of them.

Value $1.8 to $2.2 million.

Top speed 325 km/h, acceleration 0-100 km/h 3.87 sec, 0-1000m 21.70 sec

 

1970 Ferrari Daytona

With a naturally aspirated V12 engine, this was the world’s fastest road car when it was introduced in 1969 with a speed of 175 MPH.

Approximately 1300 were made, although there were only 40 right hand drive in the early plexiglass light version.

This is one of three in New Zealand with a value of $2 to $2.3 million.

 

2004 Porsche Carrera GT

This car is made entirely of carbon fibre, including all the structural components and is believed to be the only car to be made like this. The chassis weighs a mere 100kg.

The naturally aspirated 5.7L V10 engine produces a top speed of 330 KPH and produces 612hp.

1,270 were built and this is the only one of its kind in New Zealand with a value of $1.1 to $1.2 million.

 

So there you have, six of the most exciting cars in NZ, all in one handy location for one day only.
