Rock And Roll Van

across town, never mind the country. Unless you’re in a tribute band. If you are, let’s say, a Guns and Roses tribute band, this Chevrolet Express Gladiator edition could be ideal for you. Read on...

Now, obviously, the fake GNR and their gear will not fit into this, admittedly, generously proportioned van. As is tradition, the talent will ride in the Chev, with its plush seats, TV, stereo, drinks holders and air conditioning, while the crew travel in a rented box truck with the gear several hours ahead of the band. The band arrive to a fully set up stage, nice and refreshed and with enough time to get drunk before the show – if you’re a proper tribute act you have to do like the real band would do it.

This 1996 van actually came from Japan and has been on NZ roads since 2016 and is showing a very low 35,000 miles on the clock. Being American and from the 1990s there are a few small things that have stopped working, chiefly the air conditioning. This will need to be repaired so the band stays cool and don’t end up fighting due to heat delirium.

Bearing in mind a half decent Toyota Hiace cargo van will cost you north of $20k, this Chevy, with low miles and supreme passenger comfort, has an auction estimate of just $19,000 - $22,000. That’s good value, and portrays the right impression to the arriving audience. What would you rather see, fake Axl Rose stepping out of a 90s Chevy van or a 2000s Toyota? Don’t answer, we already know.

This van is being auctioned at Turners Invercargill. More details here.
