Untamed Impala

For some, the thought of touchscreen dashboards, plastic bumpers and EV drivetrains gives them night sweats. For them, dreams of a large V8, a thin rimmed steering wheel - with no buttons unless it activates a horn- and a stereo that only plays rock from the golden years, are the key ingredients for a good night's sleep and a calm mind. If that sounds like you then your dreams could become very real with this 1965 Chevrolet Impala 2 door hardtop Super Sport. Read on...

The Impala is an iconic Chevy model that was first launched in 1958, and from 1959’s second generation, was actually sold new in NZ. The 4th generation Impala arrived 1965 and has a NZ connection in that it was used as part of the government’s Crown limo fleet to chauffeur MPs, Prime Ministers and dignitaries. But it is a 2 door Super sport that topped the range. A true muscle car with upgrades over the standard car that were more than skin deep. You got the big block 396ci V8 with 3 speed auto and suspension and brake upgrades. But it’s a 2 door expansive, sleek body that gives the SS it’s imposing street appeal.

This particular Impala is a 1965 model that has had its bad boy looks enhanced with a sinister shade of gloss black paint, lowered suspension and Foose designed 20” wheels. Inside looks stock 1965, and pretty much perfect – no ugly custom interior here. It looks to have been beautifully restored and is ready to roll.

This icon of American muscle car history is being auctioned online right now. More details here.
