This vehicle has a known “Wheel of Fortune” ticking noise on deceleration. It has been assessed by Hyundai. Labor and repair costs surpass the total value of the vehicle, and a full inspection is still required to determine the full extent of the issue.

Hyundai Assessment Summary:

• Noise present from the traction motor

• Possible additional noise from the reduction box

• Unable to confirm full cause without removing components for a bench test (approx. 10 hours labor)

• If faults are confirmed, both the traction motor and reduction box are recommended for replacement

• Parts and labor costs exceed the value of the vehicle

• No repair work has been authorized

Hyundai Notes:

“Removed traction motor and found noise from traction motor. Submitted request to Hyundai NZ for assistance. Special pricing was offered as goodwill

however total costs still exceed the value of the vehicle. There is a possibility the reduction box is also noisy. Both components would need replacement to guarantee the noise is resolved.

Existing traction motor refitted, vehicle road tested – noise still present.”

Another Hyundai comment:

“There is a noise from the traction motor, possibly also from the reduction box. We cannot confirm the reduction box noise until the vehicle is reassembled and driving. If replaced, labor would increase by approx. 10 hours.”
